Katie Smith Sloan

CEO and Executive Director, Leading Age and International Association of Homes and Services for the Ageing (IAHSA)

Katie is the key leader for all of LeadingAge's operations, membership-related initiatives and services and strategic planning.

With over 7,000 not for profit members delivering aged care services across America, she is responsible for maintaining their relevance and competitive positioning in the rapidly deregulated sector, particularly with home care services and declining residential care.

Katie also leads the Association's consumer strategy and is responsible for managing the operational, growth and financial viability aspects of the Association.

She joined LeadingAge in April 2002, after having served in a number of key leadership positions at AARP. As a member of AARP's senior leadership team, Sloan was responsible for major social marketing initiatives to carry out the association's strategic priorities in health and wellness, economic security, and consumer protection.

Sloan has a strong commitment to the consumer movement, and serves as secretary-treasurer of the Consumer Federation of America and a member of the Board of the Center for the Study of Services/Consumer Checkbook.

She also serves on the Board of Directors of ValueFirst, a group purchasing company serving the aging services field.
