Simon Owen

Managing Director and CEO, Ingenia Communities Group

Simon led the creation of Ingenia in 2012 from the failed ING Real Estate Community Living Group and its listing on the ASX. Ingenia is now the largest owner of seniors rental villages in Australia and the largest owner of manufactured housing estates and tourism parks in New South Wales, with 57 villages and parks nationally.

Ingenia’s rapid move into manufactured home parks has won the support of the professional and institutional investors. In 2012, 2013 and 2014 Ingenia was awarded the highest performing listed Australian real estate investment trust by BDO.

Previously Simon had led the strategy and execution of transforming the three village Hibernian Mutual Society into the 21 village listed operator, Aevum. (Aevum was subsequently bought out by Stockland).

At the same time he was a director, President and for a period Acting CEO of the Retirement Villages Association.

Simon has also overseen the introduction of care support services into Ingenia’s rental villages, generating significant reductions in vacancies and increased bottom line profits.
