Jim Hazel
Chairman, Ingenia Communities and Omega Communities
Jim has 30 years experience in the retirement village sector at the highest levels of management and banking.
As Chief General Manager at Adelaide Bank he oversaw the bank’s entry into funding the sector, carried on today as Bendigo & Adelaide Bank, where he remains a Non Executive Director.
Jim was drawn in as CEO of Prime Life villages, the country’s largest operator, when it struck management challenges. He guided it back to health and eventual sale to Babcock & Brown. (It is now the base of the Lend Lease portfolio).
Along the journey he instigated the establishment of Village Care, the sector’s first management group and in 2012 he became the inaugural Chairman of Ingenia Communities, which has grown in that time from approximately 20 villages to 51 villages and parks.
Privately Jim has established Omega Communities to acquire villages and introduce ‘family care’ support, with the first acquisitions being in Adelaide.
He is also a Director of Coopers Brewery and Deputy Chairman of Adelaide Football Club.
